 An Evaluation of Ed Tech

Soundcloud

This is the first time I found out about Soundcloud. For teachers, it's only useful when giving out class lectures or allowing kids to learn lessons at home, which is similar to a flipped lesson but with audio only. It is also like podcasting, because you can use mobile devices to hear information through this resource by recording. I think it will helpful, especially for students who love to listen to their mobile devices.

Priigo

This tool is highly useful in organization when becoming a teacher. Since it also contains sticky notes and bookmarking, teachers can be eco-friendly at the same time and reduce their trash of sticky notes. I would definitely plan to use Priigo when I become a teacher.

WolframAlpha

If I was planning on becoming a math or science teacher, WolframAlpha would be the right tool to use. It does allow students to find out calculations online and math problems. I would only reccommend this to check their work. I wouldn't really rely on this, because students will take advantage and not work hard on the problems. But as a college student, it did help me out with my math and physical science classes.

Scriblink

I think this tool can be useful to conduct a flipped classroom lesson for students to see at home. Scriblink does mirror a whiteboard in a classroom, but with the cursor being the chalk with different various colors. I like how this website is, but the only disadvantage is that whoever the teacher is that is going to use this tool has to have good and clear penmanship along with decent artistic skills. The reason is so students can understand the graphics and writings to learn effectively.

   Mindomo

Mindomo is a mind mapping tool used to allow teachers to organize their thoughts and information into a web chart. This is similar to a brainstorming method that gathers whole information and breaks them down for a much more easier understanding. This online resource brings students' ideas together to solve problems in a creative way through collaboration.

I thought it was pretty simple. All you have to do is create a main idea topic through the tabs and there will be arrows to allow you to branch out more ideas in subtopics. There are different theme layouts, smiley icons, text font color, multimedia including audio input, and comment input. Although, it is not very interesting for students to look at, because of the many topics ad branches that can be too overwhelming

Empressr

This certain tool does require an account for free. It is an online presentation resource for teachers to create slideshows to input information relevant to classroom material. I thought Empressr wasn't all that, because I mine as well do a microsoft powerpoint or a google presentation to share a slidehow. The only thing that is good about is, is that you can share it with other applications like facebook, friendster, and other social networking sites.

Web-Chops

This tool is very similar to LiveBinder, because it involves getting different websites into a certain project. It also allows you to creat tabs to connect websites together. Web-Chops literally stands for its name in that it chops different websites into this one resources. The only difference between Web-Chops and LiveBinder is that this one allows a website viewer to pop up once the cursor touches a certain word on the project without clicking on a tab. I would use this resource when I become a teacher myself as well.
